Our first Origami Masterclass

We had an amazing time with Alice Sushi Art at inamo's first Origami Masterclass!
Guests arrived at inamo Camden for 7pm, and the interactive tables were already covered in delicate paper with stunning Japanese prints, ready for us to test our folding skills.
Alice introduced herself and explained what Origami means (折り紙, from ori meaning "folding", and kami meaning "paper"), and why she first fell in love with the Japanese art of paper-folding.
We began with a simple fan, then moved onto the more challenging task of creating five separate petals which would be connected to create a large flower. Completing this in no time at all, an impressed Alice guided us through our ultimate test – the elusive Japanese crane.
While we all managed to fold a crane, some definitely turned out better than others! The group enjoyed some inamo nibbles while we admired our craftsmanship and Alice shared anecdotes from her travels in Asia, and answered all of our queries about Origami. One of her classes teaches guests how to fold a rose, which apparently takes a gruelling two days to learn!
Take a look at our creations below, and we hope that you can join us for inamo’s next Origami Masterclass! Please enquire with events@inamo-restaurant.com for more details. The classes are also available for private bookings for £25 per guest.
